Canon's
Digital IXUS II Camera.
Next Generation Size and Style
Canon, leader in photographic and imaging technology, is pleased
to announce the launch of the super-stylish Digital IXUS II
its smallest ever digital camera. Combining stunning design
with unsurpassed build quality, this next generation IXUS is
an instant Canon classic.
A silky platinum-white finish gives the striking all-metal body
an irresistible look and feel. With 3.2 megapixels, a maximum
6.4x zoom (optical & digital combined), video clip and sound
recording functions, the Digital IXUS II is packed with leading
edge technology. A tiny lens, tiny battery, compact SD memory
card and powerful processor combine to make this next generation
Digital IXUS Canon's smallest ever.
Canon's smallest 2x zoom
The next generation Digital IXUS II introduces Canon's smallest
retractable 2x optical zoom lens. Nicknamed by Canon engineers
the 'one dime lens' for its ability to hide under an American
dime coin, the lens measures a mere 17.9mm in length (when retracted).
When combined with a 3.2x digital zoom, this tiny lens delivers
a powerful combined maximum 6.4x zoom.
Mobile printing, video and sound
Portable direct printing to Canon's new battery powered Card
Photo Printer CP-300 enables instant lab-quality photo printing
without a computer. Special postcard-ruled media makes it possible
to have a personal postcard ready to send within two minutes
of taking a photo. Video clips of up to three minutes can now
be recorded, replayed and edited, all with full sound. Still
pictures can be annotated with voice memos.
Photographer's assistant
The DIGIC (DIGital Imaging Core) processor at the heart of the
Digital IXUS II was originally developed for Canon's digital
cameras to accurately process huge volumes of data at lightning
speed. By keeping all key image processing functions on a single
chip, image quality and speed are maximised while reducing power
consumption and size. The result - more shots at a faster rate
with stunning quality.
Working like a photographer's assistant, Canon's unique iSAPS
(Intelligent Scene Analysis based on Photographic Space) technology
analyses the scene even before the shutter release is fully
pressed. The camera is then automatically preset to speed up
focusing and get the best possible result in every shooting
situation.
Web connect - CANON iMAGE GATEWAY
CANON iMAGE GATEWAY gives every Digital IXUS II customer 100MB
of album space on the web for storing and sharing favorite photographs.
Start-up image and sound effects can all be downloaded to completely
personalise the camera.
Shoot anywhere - underwater, in sand, on snow
For diving and other water sports a newly designed waterproof
case has been released, effective for use down to 40 metres.
A flash diffusion plate reduces reflection off silt, resulting
in cleaner images, particularly with close-ups. A new double-layer
lens glass prevents fogging and large, easy-to-use buttons allow
access to all functions even with gloves.
