Affiliate Dating Ltd (ADL) was originally conceived in 1999 under the original name of Soulmates Online Dating Services.

The company started with just one online dating website designed to cover one specific geographical county, that county being Cornwall.

Following some basic online pay per click (PPC) marketing with Google, Overture (Yahoo) and MSN search engines and some offline advertising on the backs of busses, on local Radio stations and in local papers, the company found that being 'local' and using a local web address was a very successful idea and so decided to expand.

The Company purchased URLs for every county in the UK and then Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

Each site was then linked together to share the data (member profiles/pictures etc), and each county had its own online and offline marketing campaign.

Each website was written in HTML, we were one of the very first companies to write web pages in HTML, the importance of this is that a search engine gives you better rankings, of course it didn't take long for others to follow but then were used to that!

Very soon this network of sites achieved very high front page ranking on all the major search engines as well as high traffic flow.

Links were established with many other independent websites that were offering general information and covering the same geographical areas as our sites. This assists in maintaining high search engine ranking.

We then built sub sites for each town in every county and linked these sites into the mainframe and data was shared all across the network. This ensured our sites appeared on pages searched on search engines and often, even now, we have two, three or four sites on the same front page whereas our competitors only have one website displayed. The advantage was clear to see right before your eyes.

Very quickly our database of motivated singles grew, we have had over 3.5 million people use our service since 1999 and it is our policy to remove profiles that are inactive over a three month period so that only live, motivated and active profiles remain on the system. This is critical because an active site means more people will join and pay to use our service.

Some sites keep dead profiles on their system for up to 18 months, small wonder people send emails and never get replies on those sites! Our websites use the very latest cutting edge technology and we update our system regularly every three months. Our system was designed and built to be updated regularly.

Some of the main players in this market who were established many years ago are now struggling as their systems are very old and not easy to update, simply put, they would loose too much money to take them offline to update, so continue to offer an increasingly poor, lagging behind site and service.

In January 2005 the decision was taken to change direction and to offer our services and database to other businesses namely Introduction Services and Speed Dating companies.

We now supply our data and provide websites for over 60% of all Introduction Services and over 70% of all Speed Dating companies in the UK.
